Someone has actually started a petition to get Irish people off work during the good weather

See. STONE MAD.

WE ALL KNOW having to work on a rare Irish sunny day is a cruel and unusual punishment. But what if we just…didn’t?

A concerned member of the public has started a petition to get Irish people out of the office and into the sunshine.

The petition, addressed to the Taoiseach and Minister for Health Simon Harris amongst other politicians, asks that we be let off work once the temperature rises above 24 degrees.

It argues that the population can “barely function” in the heat, and asks Enda Kenny to “be sound, lad”:

We are not used to these barbaric conditions. It’s a breach of human rights (probably) and we won’t stand for it any longer. Thousands of workers are spending every waking minute of these hot working days uncomfortably, with their underpants lodged up into themselves like moist-baling twine.

An evocative image, to be sure.

The letter even offers the Taoiseach some very tempting perks, including “We will buy you a Choc Ice” and “We promise to stay out until it gets dark”.

How could he say no?

The petition, which was set up today, has garnered 521 signatures so far – the goal is to reach 7,500 people.

It’s an impossible dream. Dare we dream it?
